2nd Single album of Hyo-Jeong LEE
Some trends disappear in the split of a second. Some others are longer. Some of them return after generations. No matter how many trends come and go, all of them have one thing in common. Trends are a portrait of modern people who are arguing that “this is my own style!” or “my own taste!” on the track of repetitive trends.
Ideology also follows these trends. Among others, political correctness has become a fairly sophisticated taste. It is hard for us to break free from the popular ideology with our own ideas, just like it is hard for us to ignore the most popular perfume of the day. Therefore, we are in limbo when it comes to different trends, repeating self-contradiction.
The second single ‘Trend vs Trend’ of Hyo-Jeong Lee, the jazz singer song-wirter, is singing about contractions of trends and personality. She nastily nudges the conformity of desires and the duplicity of everyday lives. But her talking is brazen and hilarious. Seemingly plausible contractions of languages are added to the jazz-funk groove. It is true that the contradictions in life feel pleasant when being looked at from a distance.
